Speedy Feedback with AI:
Personalized Comments in Seconds
Grading stacks up fast. You want to give meaningful feedback, but after 30 essays or math reflections, your energy runs dry. You end up writing the same three comments again and again—or worse, putting it off altogether.
That’s where AI can save the day.
Imagine this: You copy a student’s response into ChatGPT and say,
"Give encouraging, specific feedback for this 6th grade science reflection. Focus on clarity, understanding of the topic, and curiosity."
In seconds, you get a thoughtful comment that praises strengths and gently suggests improvements. Tweak it if needed, then move on to the next one.
🧑🏫 Example: Ms. Rivera, a high school English teacher, used this method for a batch of poetry analyses. What used to take her 3+ hours now takes under 45 minutes—and her feedback is better, not just faster.
Try This Prompt:
“Give kind, specific, and constructive feedback on this student paragraph. The student is in [grade]. Focus on [clarity / grammar / reasoning / creativity / etc.].”
(Then paste in the student’s writing.)
🔐 Privacy Tip: Remove student names before pasting in their work.
💡 Bonus Tip: Before running your prompt, ask ChatGPT:
“How can I improve this prompt to get clearer, more helpful feedback?”
Let it tune your instructions to get even better results.
That’s it for this week.
